Hello. I’m Fatima, a twenty-something Nigerian writer and reader. Welcome to anything, everything, and books.
What is this newsletter?
This newsletter is a place for me to tend to myself – my curiosities, creativity, and my need to play and express myself. It is a space where being me, in all my ramifications, is enough. Here, I’m making room for joy and messiness, for figuring things out and evolving, and for self-doubt and recentering.
What do I write?
I write about the things in the world that draw my attention over and over again. The things I notice, the things I want to peel back the layers of and question, and the things I want to explore just because. These ‘things’ aren’t strictly defined and set in stone. But currently, here are some of them: slow living and digital minimalism, writing and journaling, books, creativity, walking, flowers and trees, feminism, sustainability, friendships, K-dramas and old cringey movies, bodies of water, beauty standards (questioning them, disrupting them), intentionality and learning to exist as yourself, yoga and meditation.
I might write about some of these things; I might not. I’m figuring it out while leaving space to evolve, discard, and adopt.
I also write short stories, opinion essays, and the occasional poem, which I may publish here, too.
What’s the schedule?
I publish twice a month: on the 2nd of every month, I publish a monthly roundup of books I have read, and on the 16th of every month, I publish a longer piece on whatever I choose to write about that month. However, I occasionally publish an interview with a reader about reading habits, beliefs, tips, etc., on the 26th of the chosen months.
I strive to stick to this schedule, but there might be times when life upends my plans and I can’t show up in this way.
If you’d like to look around and read a few pieces, here are some of my and readers’ favourites to get you started:
tuned innn 🫰🏾 super excited!
I'm so excited for this new era!!!
