oof number 2 and 3, FELT. this is a really lovely piece! I kind of what to do the same thing in my journal as it seems like a really good way to do some reflection and realise, like you said, we're exactly where we need to be right now :') thank you for sharing these thoughts with us🩷
This is such a lovely read! I fear little me would also be a bit disappointed until she understands how hard life really is. We’re all trying our best and there is no linear path. This piece helps me extend more grace to myself and where I’m at now, and the little versions of us would marvel at how far we’ve come and that we’re still doing our thing especially with the difficulties we face. Brava :)
Yes, there's really no linear path on this journey of life and I agree that if little versions of us understood how difficult life was, they'd marvel at our grit. Thank you so much for reading and I'm glad this helped you to extend more grace to yourself <3
"8-year-old me would be confused that her plans to go to the UK for university and maybe end up living there didn’t come to fruition. She’d scoff at me when I complain about all the many things wrong with Nigeria but still call it home. She would look at me like I’m talking gibberish when I say I’d love to travel and live in other places, but I don’t want to permanently relocate."
Oh wow, as someone who was once an 8-year-old that dreamed of moving to the US for university and end up living there I felt this one on a deeply personal level. Part of growing up for me was learning how to love the Philippines and acknowledging that even though I may travel and temporarily live elsewhere, this place, even with everything I criticize about it, will always be my home.
Exactly! As we grow older, we see things differently and discover our own values might differ from what others deem important or necessary. Here, if you wanted better for yourself, it was assumed that you'd find a way to leave the country.
I'm so glad you can relate to this. Thank you so much for reading!
What a relatable piece. Now I’m convinced we all went through a Ben Carson phase😂. I think little me would be confused as to what is going on right now. I’d like to give her a hug and tell her it will be okay

Exactly and figuring out ‘life’ is a journey that lasts as long as we live. Thank you for reading!
